Bullying

I have learned that bullying is something that will most likely never stop. No matter what everyone does, it will not stop. There will always be bully’s and victims. In the readings we have read, it says, quote “Director Lee Hirsh concludes that preventing bullying requires that we do more than institute anti-bullying policies and punish bullies.” Also I have learned that so many people are bullied  and it eventually causes people to take their lives everyday because of it. It is a fact that about 2,000 people commit suicide everyday. One of the things that bug me the most about this is that the only time people really realize that a student is being bullied is when they take their lives. All because no one noticed or payed enough attention to realize what was happening. People take their lives because they feel it is poiintless for them to live. No one pays  attention to them. They get tired of living. I have learned that most people in schools are oblivious to the bullying. They say and believe that there is nothing wrong with the students at the school. Everyday bullying and people don’t realize or don’t do anything about it. They bystand and by doing so, they encourage the bully. Even though people report the bullying, the teachers and/or principal sometimes ignore the problem. They refuse to believe that bullying happens in their school. I have learned that people like alex have a hard time making friends. This makes him an easy target for bullies because he has no one to defend him or report the bully. I have learned so much about bullying. Most of the things I learned, I never would have thought could be possible.

Challenge 4

I’m writing this challenge about music. I am writing this post about music because it is I think my favourite thing in the world. No matter what nood I am in, music expresses it. There is music for every mood there is. Music is my life. I don’t rememeber when I first started to listen to music but it has been something I always look forward to. Music understands me when no one else can. Music is what I turn to when I amgoing through something bad such as having a fight with friends. (this doesn’t happen ofthen though) Even when nothing is happening I turn to music. Music is my comfort. Music is one of the things that will always stay with me even when others aren’y with me. Music is important to me and always will be important to me.

What to do:

  •  Brush your hair out so it has no tangles in it.

  • Take another hair elastic and put it in your hair so it is over the sockand your spread out hair.
  •  With all of your left over hair, you can dowhatever you want to do with it. You can leave it down, pin it all around the bun. I ike to split the extra hair into two different clumps and braid it. Once the two cluumps are braided, you rap them around the bun and pin them to your head.

Challenge 2

http://studentchallenge.edublogs.org/2013/03/10/challenge-2-first-week-of-freedom/

I strongly believe that students should not have to participate in Track and Field events. In this piece, I will convince you that my opinion is right.

Some students may not like the activities that we are forced to participate in. if a student doesn’t like the event(s), that could cause many different problems for many different people.

If someone doesn’t like the Track and Field event, they will feel like they don’t need to try. They will think that there is no point in trying. It won’t affect their lives in any way. Although I don’t find track and Field really necessary, I still try my hardest.

Some students exceed at some sports and may not be as good in others. One of the events may be one that the person isn’t the best at.  Some students may go into the event thinking that the people that are good in that activity will make fun of and laugh at them only because that isn’t one of their stronger sports/events.

Another reason why I feel strongly about this topic is because some students (including me) like to do sports, events, and goal setting on our own time and own way.

Some students can be very self concious about their body, weight and activness. I strongly believe that students should possess the choice to participate in the events or not. We should be able to choose what we want to do.

Some students lose self-confidence yearly because one or two other peers almost always get first place. Loss of self-concidence will discourage more and more kids to do the best they can. That may mean that they doubt they will beat anyone.

Lastly, no one should be forced to doanythingthey don’t want to do. This is the most obvious reason for this topic.

One of my sources said that kids shouhld have the choice if they want to participate in different sports or events. It says that no kid should ever be forced to do anything they don’t  want to do. I agree with this because I am a kid myself and a human being. I care about people’s wants and needs. As should anyone else.

Also, logical people would agree with me when I say, no parent, aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, teacher, secretary, principal, kid or anyone for that matter should ever force anyone to do anything they don’t want to do.

Although, some people may argue that poeple will become lazy if they aren’t forced to participate in Track and Field events. When it comes down to it, people will decide to join sports if they want to. Honestly, it’s not anyone’s choice but their own.

In conclusion, no student should be forced to participate in Track and Field events. From reasoms ranging from not wanting to participate, to acting humane, this is why I strongly believe that my opinion is right and everyone should agree with me.

Strange Happenings throughout the course of 2012!

My mom was watching a video on her iPhone and I decided to watch it with her. In the video, it showed short parts of different news episodes about ‘strange’ happenings in the course of 2012. In some parts of this 20 minute video, we saw that the people from NASA have been ‘keeping an eye’ on the sun throughout this year. The news broadcasters slowed down the videos so we could see the peices of the sun that were breaking off of it. The chuncks of sun that were–are orbiting through space were massive! One of the pictures that I saw was of the sun and the massive triangle shaped chunck was missing. There were also videos of earthquakes that were shaking the lives of people as close as Toronto. Dolphins were being washed up and out the water in Brazil. In other places, people were claiming to almost constantly feeling the ground shaking beneth them. One women said that it felt like her apartmant has going to fly of its hinges, that’s how violent the shaking could be. My mom says that yesreday night while I was fast asleep, she was outside with our dog, Chase, when, suddenly, the sky lit up a very bright light flash red through the sky. She isn’t sure what it was, but she says it ‘looked like a giant ball of fire.’ Tonight at approximately 11 p.m, there is su8pposed to be a meteor shower across the sky. I find it weird that all of this is happening in 2012, the year the world is supposed to end on the 21rst of this month. 8 days.
Comment your opinion in the comments. What do you think of all this? What do you think of the ‘strange happenings?’
This topic is open for disscusion and I hope to get comments!! 😉

Mary Spencer comng to our class!

Not long ago, Mary Spencer came to our classroom to talk to us. She told us the road she took to become a boxer. She answered all of our many questions. She said that she gave up a lot to become the boxer she is today. We learned that she stared to box when she was only 17 years old. She was still in high school at the time and had to skip her morning classes. When one of us asked how many matches she won and lost she said she won 128 and lost only 10 matches in the whole time shes been boxing. She talked about her boxing coach being the one who trained her to be as good as she now. I think her whole message to this presentation was to teach us that we need to chase our dream and push ourselves to follow threw with that goal and to work for it! 🙂

Class Surveys!

Today in class we posted surveys on Edmodo and we filled them out. I think that it’s a really good idea to do math activities on the internet. It makes it a lot easier for us to present the question we want to know because if we were to present them in front of the class, we might have had a couple of students that may not have cooperated with the the activity and it might have gotten all messed up due to these people. Since we did these surveys on the internet it woud be difficult to mess them up! I would write more, but I gotta go!
